Hair loss on the top of the scalp is common in Androgenetic alopecia cases, and we see a bald patch appearing on the crown over a period of time where blood circulation to the hair follicles is less and influenced by the androgen hormones. We can’t see the bald patch unless and until we see it in a mirror or take selfie pictures of the scalp from the top or someone takes a picture and shows it to us. The androgen hormones start spreading and attacking the existing grafts on the hairline and crown region causing hair loss substantially with visibility of the scalp skin. In stage 3 of androgenetic alopecia, this pattern can be seen and gradually goes to stage 4 of hair loss where we lose 70% of the cranial area hair causing open baldness on the scalp which makes our appearance look quite older than what we are.
Solution: The only solution is to get a hair transplant done and that too precisely from a good clinic and a good surgeon as everyone is not an expert on crown region hair transplant. Crown area hair transplant requires denser packing of grafts with proper angulation of the implants especially on the whirlpool zone. Having a good donor capacity is an added advantage for hair transplants. Adgrohair clinic surgeons are experts in crown area hair transplants as most Indians in the Southern part have crown area balding issues. The percutaneous FUE method is practised to perform hair transplants on the crown area which can devise the proper depth of the hair implants, optimum density of 70 to 80 grafts per sq cm area, and a direction precisely at 43 to 62-degree angles for better coverage. Since the Percutaneous FUE method allows the grafts to be extracted and implanted completely shock and trauma-free the survival rate is optimum and you can see hair growth on the crown completed by 12 months’ time.
Initially post hair transplant you will experience shedding of the implanted hairs in a month’s time and that comes back to the active anagen mode or the growth mode by the 4th month and hair regrowth is again experienced which is a delight and joy for everyone. The application of minoxidil every day is a must on the crown area to achieve faster growth of the implanted hair follicles.
