When we think about any surgical methods to undergo the first thing which comes into our mind is what will be the possible side effects if we undergo the procedure. Will there be any kind of health issues or any adverse effect to daily life, what kind of maintenance is required, will the implanted hairs grow and remain on the scalp for a long time, will it look natural or artificial and many more questions pertaining to hair transplant procedure. Many of us are not quite aware of the possible side effects of hair transplants if getting it done from an inexperienced doctor and ot technicians, in most of the cases the hair transplant aspirants overlook the bigger picture and the possible outcome of the procedure and look out for cheaper options. It’s quite evident that cheaper options will not yield good results for several reasons, quality of the instruments used, hygiene condition of the ot, sterilization and fumigation of the premises, qualifications of the surgeon, method used to perform etc. In bigger cities the ot technicians are playing the major role in the hair transplant method and hardly we can see the surgeon performing it. Re-used punches used to do extraction of grafts, old and blunt foreceps used to do implants or separations, grafts kept outside of the body for longer time in room temperature, needles or scalpels used to make prior slits for implants. These all leads to unnatural look of the implants and the plugs are quite evident and seen with no direction of the growth, scanty look, plugs getting infected due to poor hygiene conditions of the ot premises and un sterilized tools used. Sometimes the infections caused spreads and called as perifollicular edema and pustular erythema. So we should be very careful while choosing a place for your hair transplant and cross check criteria’s to make sure you are in a profiled place with a good brand name.
